My research is in the application of techniques of mathematical analysis into problems of materials science, particularly focused on models of liquid crystals. I mainly work on mean-field-type models, predominantly Onsager and Maier-Saupe treatments of liquid crystalline phase transitions and ordering, tackled through techniques of the calculus of variations.
