Jennifer Walton-Fisette gives keynote lecture at NAKHE conference

Jennifer Walton-Fisette, Ph.D, recently gave the annual Amy Morris Homans keynote lecture at the recent National Association for Kinesiology in Higher Education (NAKHE) conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Titled, "From the Margins to Pushing the Margins: Advocating for Social Justice and Equity in Physical Education," Walton-Fisette discussed a number of topics, including:

  • Her personal and professional journey centered on research and pedagogy related to social justice and equity issues in physical education and physical education teacher education,
  • An overview of federal education laws that have influenced the ‘equitable’ schooling experiences of P-12 and higher education students in the U.S.,
  • A critical perspective of physical education standards as policy, and,
  • Exploring the influence of social justice research and pedagogy in physical education/physical education teacher education.
