Dawn Plug, associate director of ΜμΜμ³ΤΉΟβs Center for Adult and Veteran Services, has been appointed to a position on the Association of Veterans Education Certifying Officialsβ Board of Directors, serving as the only representative from Ohio.
Plug will be one of 10 board members representing 18 states. She will help plan, train and engage administrators and counselors of veteransβ education benefits in higher learning institutions through a conference near the Department of Veterans Affairsβ St. Louis Regional Benefit Office from June 19-23.
Plug says holding a position on the board will help give ΜμΜμ³ΤΉΟ State a stronger voice and presence nationwide, as well as build ΜμΜμ³ΤΉΟ Stateβs brand as a military-friendly school.
βI feel like this is a good way for ΜμΜμ³ΤΉΟ State to be more regionally known in the veterans certifying world,β Plug says. βIβm glad that I get to represent ΜμΜμ³ΤΉΟ State along with Ohio.β
Plug says some of her new responsibilities will include helping gather information about schools and school certifying officials to plan and execute the conference in June as well as work on the organizationβs website and listserv.
βHere at ΜμΜμ³ΤΉΟ State, we have such a diversity of programs β everything from a podiatry college to a flight program,β Plug says. βMost schools only have a narrow focus, and Iβm excited to be a part of the conversation from a larger school perspective.β
Plug is currently the only school certifying official at ΜμΜμ³ΤΉΟ State, but she is working on hiring a program coordinator later this semester to help with the workload. The program coordinator also would attend the conference.
