“My FSF case study expanded on my research by combining 3D block printing with digital printing. This showcased how traditional craftsmanship and digital technology, seemingly opposing methods, can merge harmoniously to unlock creative possibilities for the future of textile design,” said Stauffer.

With encouragement from her mentor, professor Archana Mehta, Stauffer will present her SURE research at the  conference in London this March.

“It feels very surreal. What began as a passion project grew into an incredible opportunity to share my work on an international stage—something I never could have imagined,” said Stauffer.

As for her faculty mentors, they saw a spark in Stauffer from the beginning.

“Rachel is a go-getter, a hustler. She took the initiative of finding sources where she could apply for grants to support her travel to London for the IFFTI conference. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with her for the past year,” said Professor Mehta.

“Rachel immediately showed initiative and poise, engaging in the professional development organization [NRFSA] at a level that is uncommon in many students in their first couple of years. She was a natural at leading meetings, networking with industry professionals, and showing her practical understanding of industry,” said professor Rachel LoMonaco-Benzing, PhD, who has known Stauffer since her first year at ����Թ� State.
