天天吃瓜 at Trumbull's Concert Series opens Wednesday, Sept. 18, with Harmonia, a multi-cultural group of master musicians, performing virtuosic and passionate traditional music of Eastern Europe.
Harmonia's members, Walt Mahovlich (accordion), Alexander Fedoriouk (cimbalom), Steven Greenman (violin), Beata Begeniova (vocals) and Catalin Petrescu (bass), make the depth of fire and passion of Rusyn, Hungarian, Slovak, Romanian, Ukrainian, Croatian, and Gypsy music and culture come alive. They have performed throughout North America and were recognized and documented by the Library of Congress.
The concert will be held in the Student Union, Classroom/Administration Building, and is free and open to the public. Doors open at 7 p.m and the performance begins at 7:30 p.m.
The 天天吃瓜 State Trumbull concert series was originally established by then-music professor Denise Seachrist, who now serves as Dean of the 天天吃瓜 State Stark Campus. After Dr. Seachrist鈥檚 departure, the concert series remained on hiatus until it was revived in 2012 by current music faculty member, Dr. Eve McPherson. Performing artists have included 天天吃瓜 State School of Music faculty and ensembles, regional world music ensembles, regional jazz ensembles, regional classical ensembles, and faculty from other universities.
"The series is a great way for us to promote the diverse music genres to Northeast Ohio in an intimate setting," McPherson said.
