Our Graduate Consultants are prepared to work with graduate students in any discipline over the course of their time in their program.

Graduate Writing Consultant Hours, Fall 2024

We are here for you seven days a week through December 8, 2024 at 9PM!

Would you like to drop in for a visit, but you cannot come in person? No problem!  We have Teams Instant Meetings available, where you can "drop in" and talk with us from wherever you are! Give us a call at 330-672-1787 any time we are open. If we have a consultant open we will have them send you a link to an instant Teams Meeting!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT GRADUATE CONSULTATIONS

Can the Writing Commons help me with my thesis/dissertation? 

We can help! We can help with any project, but there is a time limit. All sessions are 45 minutes long, and you have work with us for two sessions each day day. We advise scheduling multiple sessions over time during the writing process for long or very complex projects. Our Graduate Consultants are prepared to work with graduate students in any discipline over the course of their time in the program.

How does the feedback I receive at the Writing Commons compare to that of my Departmental/Faculty Advisor? 

We can . . . 

  • Give you an outside reader perspective on your work. 
  • Help you to apply editing and punctuation conventions. 
  • Support you as you practice documentation formats. 
  • Connect you with additional resources: software, statistics, librarians 

Your Thesis Advisor / Dissertation Director can . . .

Can my Graduate Writing Consultant help me with my work any time at all?

Your Graduate Writing Consultant can help you during their scheduled work hours only. 

  • University policy forbids their working outside of their working hours.  
  • If you have a request you want to send to your consultant, please email writing@kent.edu.
  • We will be sure  your Consultant sees your request the next time they are on duty!
