Eligibility and Fees

We are committed to students!

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is committed to bringing accessible and affordable mental health care to our students.  To be eligible for services, you must be an enrolled ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State student, either undergraduate or graduate, and registered for classes on the ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï campus.

CAPS offers a variety of self-help resources, workshops, and skill series, in addition to short-term individual counseling and group counseling.  Students who are recommended to our counseling services are eligible for up to six sessions covered by student fees. If a student needs to be seen beyond this, CAPS can bill a student’s health insurance carrier directly for any services provided by our licensed clinicians.  You may want to check with your health insurance carrier to verify coverage.  The  CAPS Insurance Verification Guide  can help you with that process.  For students who do not have health insurance, CAPS offers a self-pay rate. For any sessions that are billed, payment is expected at the time of service.  Billing is handled by DeWeese Health Center; charges are typically billed to a student’s bursar account unless other arrangements are made. If you have questions, please contact the Central Billing Office at 330-672-8251.

Due to the high demand for our services, we kindly ask that at least 24-hour notice be provided if you are unable to keep an appointment. A $20 fee will be incurred when a student fails to attend a scheduled appointment or does not provide at least 24-hour notice of a cancellation.  This fee will be billed to the student's bursar account.
