Commencement Ceremonies Held on Salem Campus

Caps and Gowns Commencement ceremonies were held May 13 for the ��Թ� State Salem Campus. Dr. Steve Nameth, dean of the ��Թ� State Columbiana County Campuses, presided over the event, along with Dr. Celeste Oprean, assistant dean for the Salem Campus.

Students speakers Devyn Rothbrust and Lisa Kesseg The keynote speaker was Rep. Timothy Ginter, State Representative for the 5^th Ohio House District.

Student speakers included Lisa Kesseg of the Insurance Studies program and Devyn Rothbrust of the Horticulture program.

Nearly 400 degrees were awarded this semester between the ��Թ� State Salem and East Liverpool campuses. All Smiles

Recognized for Research, Olivia Rice is Ready for More

Senior psychology major Olivia Rice received the E. Ted Bunn Student Excellence Award for Best Poster at the recent Association for University Regional Campuses of Ohio (AURCO) annual conference at the Ohio University Chillicothe Campus. Her poster showcased her research project titled “Undergraduate Student Benefits: Research Within Community Outreach.”

Student Spotlight: Emily Ellyson Imagines Future in Imaging Sciences

Just three years ago, Emily Ellyson was graduating from United High School and already planning to study radiologic technology at ��Թ� State Salem. This year, she is graduating from ��Թ� State Salem with that degree in hand and ready to put her skills to use.

Before becoming a college student, Ellyson said that she knew she wanted to work in healthcare in some capacity and, after job shadowing technicians in a nearby hospital radiology department, she found her calling.
