Candidate Interview

Interviews are an important part of the podiatric medical school application process. Your application provides great insight into your academic history, shadowing experiences, and extracurricular involvements; however, the interview is our chance to better understand you as an aspiring physician – the type of person you are, what matters to you, and why you have chosen to become a podiatric physician.

At KSUCPM, candidate interviews are conducted by a member of the Enrollment Management Team and a faculty member. KSUCPM will not extend any offers, including conditional offers until an interview has been conducted.

INTERVIEW OPTIONS

The 2024-2025 interviews will be conducted in person and virtually. Each candidate will only participate in one interview (either in person or virtually).  Interviews take place from mid-August to mid-July and are scheduled in the Eastern Time Zone.

In-Person Interview – .

We invite you to fully experience KSUCPM with our in-person interview option. This visit offers a comprehensive introduction to our campus, the camaraderie among our community, and the vibrant city of Cleveland. During your visit, you will tour the campus with our student ambassadors, participate in a hands-on workshop, clinic shadowing, or class observation, and enjoy a complimentary lunch with our student ambassadors. You'll also have the opportunity to meet with members of the Enrollment Management team, the Dean of the College, and faculty members to gain deeper insights into our programs and community.

For candidates who choose to interview in person and live more than 40 miles from KSUCPM, we offer a complimentary one-night hotel stay at the Holiday Inn Cleveland Rockside. Supplemental information about this offer will be included in your interview invitation email.

Virtual Interview – .

For applicants choosing a virtual interview, sessions will be conducted via Microsoft Teams, accessible with a Google or Gmail account. Upon confirming your interview time, you will receive detailed instructions and a calendar invitation from the Enrollment Management Office.

Virtual Interview Schedule:

  • AM Session: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm EST
  • PM Session: 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm EST

On the day of your interview, simply click the provided link to join; there's no need to download Microsoft Teams as it can be accessed directly via the web. Your virtual interview will last approximately 30 minutes and will include a session with a member of our Enrollment Management Team and a faculty member. Specific details about your interviewers will be shared within 24 hours of your chosen time slot.

We also offer several virtual student panel sessions. We encourage you to attend one of these panels before your interview if possible, as it will help you become familiar with Microsoft Teams and provide valuable insights into life at KSUCPM. This is a key component of our virtual interview process and a great opportunity to connect with current students.

We highly recommend that candidates who opt for a virtual interview plan a campus visit at a later date. Experiencing our campus firsthand will give you a deeper understanding of why we passionately support Cleveland as an ideal place for your education. You’ll discover the city's affordable cost of living, its vibrant atmosphere, and the exceptional opportunities for clinical experiences within a thriving medical community.

At the end of your interview experience, you can expect to have a deeper understanding of our people, our culture, our program, and most of all, how you might see yourself thriving in our community. Please reach out if KSUCPM can provide any additional information to support your decision.

INTERVIEW PREPARATION

It is important to prepare for your interview. Minimally,

  • Review everything you submitted in your application.
  • Thoroughly research all programs being considered and prepare your questions.
  • Be professional. Professionalism includes attire, and interactions with interviewers, school staff, and students – by email, telephone, and in person.
  • Relax and be yourself. You’ve done the world already; now let your passion for podiatric medicine shine.

AFTER THE INTERVIEW

After the interview, you will receive an update on your candidacy. There are three outcomes: immediate acceptance, alternate list, or deny acceptance. You will be notified of a decision electronically within two weeks of your interview.

WITHDRAWAL OF APPLICATION

Each interviewer volunteers their time and must be informed of changes in the schedule well in advance.

Candidates who wish to withdraw their application should notify the Office of Admissions by email. If an interview has been scheduled, please notify the office as soon as possible, as another applicant may be given the opportunity to fill the vacated time slot.

We are looking forward to meeting you and further discussing your passion for podiatric medicine. If you have concerns or need to reschedule your interview, contact our Office of Admissions at podiatry@kent.edu or 216-916-7485.
