In 2006, Betty Sutton became the first ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State alumna to serve in the U.S. Congress, when she was elected to represent Ohio’s 13th District in the House of Representatives. Sixteen years later, ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State alumna Emilia Sykes, a native of Akron, Ohio, was elected to represent the same district, making her the first Black ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State alum to serve in the House of Representatives.
