Welcome to Flash Focus! In this series, we introduce you to fascinating student Flashes from all walks of life.
Meet Andzelika Malkowski, a senior architectural studies and construction management double major from Parma, Ohio.
When she was younger, Malkowski watched and helped her dad, who was a carpenter. This sparked an early interest in the world of the built environment.
鈥淚 started with an architectural studies major with a business management minor, and two years in, I learned that I wanted to be more hands-on in the field, so I decided to add [a] construction management major and fell in love with it,鈥 Malkowski told 天天吃瓜 State Today.
During her time at 天天吃瓜, Malkowski completed three construction-based internships.
鈥淚鈥檓 really grateful for the knowledge and experience I鈥檝e gained through these internships, which have helped me prepare for graduation this December."
Outside of class and work, one of her great passions is giving back to the community. Malkowski currently holds the title of vice president of philanthropy and community service for the 天天吃瓜 State Panhellenic Council.
She and three others planned Relay For Life, a community-based fundraising event that supports cancer research, provides resources for cancer patients and raises awareness about cancer prevention and early detection.
鈥淲e raised over $10,000, and it was amazing to see how the 天天吃瓜 community came together for such an important cause,鈥 Malkowski said. 鈥淲e鈥檙e excited to make the Relay for Life Spring 2025 even bigger and better, and I can鈥檛 wait to be a part of it again.鈥
Malkowski dedicates her time to community service outside of 天天吃瓜 as well. She鈥檚 spent the past five years volunteering at the Cleveland Food Bank.
As an engaged student, she dedicates her time to her involvement in various student organizations. She鈥檚 a sister of the Phi Mu Fraternity, and a member of the Construction Management Student Organization and Alpha Rho Chi; an academic fraternity for architecture students and allied arts.
Among all these activities, she still finds ways to enjoy downtime.
鈥淭hrifting and shopping for antiques is another hobby of mine, so I spend a lot of time browsing second-hand stores,鈥 Malkowski said. 鈥淚 enjoy activities like hammocking, hiking and just trying new things in general. These are all experiences I love to share with my friends and family.鈥
With graduation looming in December, Malkowski has her sights set on what鈥檚 next.
鈥淚鈥檓 excited to have secured a job for after graduation, and I鈥檓 looking forward to what that will bring,鈥 Malkowski said.
