Denise A. Seachrist, Ph.D., of Rootstown, Ohio, has been selected to serve as dean and chief administrative officer of ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï at Stark, located in North Canton, Ohio. Seachrist has served as interim dean of ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State Stark, the only public university in Stark County and the largest Regional Campus of ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State, since July 1, 2014. She began serving as the permanent dean on Feb. 1, 2016.
ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï is introducing a Cooperative Education program for students of all majors at all ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State campuses.
The ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï Women’s Center in the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will celebrate its 20th anniversary during the 2016-17 school year. The Women’s Center, formerly called the Women’s Resource Center, was established in 1996 following a recommendation from a university stakeholder committee to former ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State President Carol A. Cartwright.

The 10th annual Main Street ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï Art and Wine Festival will take place Saturday, June 4, from noon-10 p.m. in downtown ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï. Proceeds will benefit Main Street ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï, the nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization of downtown ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï. The Art and Wine Festival features local artists, live entertainment and wineries from all over Ohio.

From getting deployed to Afghanistan to being unable to pay for classes, starting a family and even accepting a job at a winery in southern Germany. The reasons for leaving ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï before completing a bachelor’s degree fall across a wide spectrum for some students.

Since 2008, Jill Lahrmer, assistant professor in ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design, has consistently shared her passion for interior design with her students.

ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï held its 14th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Jan. 28 in the ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï Student Center Ballroom. The keynote speaker for the event was Joy-Ann Reid, national correspondent for MSNBC. The commemorative event also recognized the 2016 recipients of ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State’s Diversity Trailblazer Award, which honors diversity pioneers associated with ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State, and Unity Award for Diversity, which recognizes the contributions of any ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State unit that demonstrates significant contributions in the areas of diversity, equity, and/or inclusion.
