Renato “Ren” Camacho of North Canton, Ohio, has been appointed to the ����Թ� Board of Trustees by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine. Camacho, who currently serves as president and CEO of the Akron-Canton Airport, brings expertise in both economic development and aviation to the ����Թ� State Board.

After a national search, Alison Caplan has been selected as the new director of ����Թ�’s May 4 Visitors Center, a museum that tells the story of the shootings at ����Թ� State on May 4, 1970, set in the context of the 1960s.

Jeffrey Hartmann, Ph.D., principal of Stow-Munroe Falls High School, said he was interested in attending the conference to learn skills to deal with his school district’s changing landscape.

The country has been awaiting the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling on two cases that would decide the fate of affirmative action in higher education and, as we expected, the court struck down affirmative action as we have known it.

The lawsuits – Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. President and Fellows of Harvard College and Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. University of North Carolina – challenged the use of race-conscious admissions practices by colleges and universities.

The ����Թ� Board of Trustees approved resolutions that advance programs for students studying aeronautics during the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held June 28 on the ����Թ� Campus.

����Թ� State's flight team takes first-place honors for the second consecutive year in an air race for women pilots.

����Թ� is building on the legacy of May 4, 1970, and the mission of its School of Peace and Conflict Studies, when it joins forces with the University of Rwanda in July to help advance peace education across the globe.

Some of the nine ����Թ� students who were studying at the Paris American Academy are returning home today, and others are expected to travel home tomorrow. A few are staying longer in Europe for various personal reasons.

����Թ� State’s Office of Global Education remains in contact with all the students to support their needs, including providing counseling services.  

Currently, none of the students are interested in speaking with the media.

An explosion occurred today in a building in Paris, France, that housed the Paris American Academy, where nine ����Թ� students, plus faculty and staff are located. All ����Թ� State students have now been accounted for and are safe.

News reports indicate a gas leak may be to blame for a blast that sent more than two dozen people to the hospital.
