The ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï Board of Trustees will hold its next regular business meeting on Thursday, March 9, at 9:30 a.m. in the Robinson Room on the second floor of the Le Meridien Columbus, The Joseph, 620 N. High St., in Columbus, Ohio, to consider the recommendations of the standing committees, proposed personnel actions and new business.
Black History Month had and continues to have a major impact in the lives of ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State community members. Some learned about Black History when they were very young, while others acquired knowledge as college students or adults. All, however, are grateful for the role that Black History Month has played in their lives.
Western Reserve Historical Society and ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State have announced a cooperation agreement enabling unique access and real-world experiences for students and faculty in the Department of History. ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State students will gain access to archival research materials for research projects, internships and jobs as well as research assistantships for graduate level students.
ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State students who traveled to Jackson State University during an alternative winter break trip had in-depth, hands-on exposure to survivors of the May 15, 1970, police shooting, which killed two people; the youngest Freedom Rider, Hezekiah Watkins; and the home of Myrlie and Medgar Evers, a National Monument.

This year, ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï will hold the 55th commemoration honoring the memory of May 4, 1970, a tragic day when the Ohio National Guard fired on ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State students during an anti-war protest on campus, killing four students, wounding nine others and sparking a turning point in American history. Kicking off the program for the annual May 4 Commemoration is a play that focuses on student activism and book bans.
The ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï Board of Trustees endorsed the 2024 University Remediation Report at its Dec. 12 meeting. The report provides a comprehensive overview of student remediation at the university.
ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï will hold its annual Veterans Day observance on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. on the Student Green at Risman Plaza.
The outdoor program, Honoring All Who Serve, will include a flag-raising ceremony conducted by a joint color guard from the university’s Army and Air Force ROTC programs, remarks from ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State President Beverly Warren and guest speakers. Retired Petty Officer 1st Class Mark Gainer, who currently serves as president of the ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State Veterans Club, will be the guest speaker.
All are invited to come and pay tribute to America’s veterans. A special invitation is extended to ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State faculty, staff, students and community members who are veterans, active service members or who have family members in the military.
A reception in the ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï Student Center Kiva lobby will follow the brief program. In the event of inclement weather, the rain location will be the ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï Student Center Kiva.
