CMAA Named Student Chapter Of The Year

The Club Management Association of America (CMAA) recently announced that the ����Թ� chapter won the Student Chapter of the Year award for small size chapters. The award recognizes the outstanding work and successful accomplishments of student chapters.

New Grant Helps ����Թ� Museum Preserve Fashion And Textile History

The ����Թ� Museum currently houses extraordinary collections of historic dress, fashion, textiles and decorative arts. More than 29,000 objects from many of the world’s great artists and designers, known and unknown, from across time and continents can be found at the museum. A new grant will help protect the longevity of these artifacts for generations to come.

Starkey Earns Career Win No. 300 as ����Թ� State Beats BG

����Թ� State defeated Bowling Green, 82-74, Saturday at the Stroh Center to give head coach  his 300th career win. Starkey has won 135 games as the leader of the Golden Flashes and is now tied with Laurel Wartluft for the second most wins in program history.

Educating Students On The Value Of Marginalized Voices In Politics

On February 3, 2024, the Women’s Center will host the fourth annual Elect Her event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the May 4 Visitors Center at ����Թ�. The event is an interactive one-day training program that educates college students on the value of having women and marginalized voices in politics.

Cleveland State University and ����Թ� to Honor Late Dr. Michael Schwartz on Feb. 8

Cleveland State University and ����Թ� will co-host a celebration of life for Dr. Michael Schwartz on Thursday, Feb. 8, at 3 p.m. in the Glasscock Family Foundation Ballroom. Schwartz served as president of both universities.

There was an official ribbon-cutting for the new, high-tech running track that installed at the ����Թ� Field House this summer. 

A Program Of Empowerment

Since the summer of 1990, the Academic S.T.A.R.S. (Students Achieving and Reaching for Success) Program has been offered at ����Թ�. E. Timothy Moore Student Multicultural Center (the Moore Center) oversees the program, which supports the successful transition of first-year students of color into the university.

Strutting Our Stuff: ����Թ� State’s School of Fashion to Help Raise Money for Ronald McDonald House Charities

Students, faculty and alumni from ����Թ�’s world-renowned School of Fashion will be sending some of their most exciting designs down the runway on Feb. 8 in Haute for the House, a fashion show to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Ohio. 

DoIT Supports ����Թ� State's R1 Status by Creating App to Track $2M in Grant Money

The future of tracking internal grant money within the university is here, and it presents a brand-new way of managing funds distributed to professors and organizations. In partnership with the division of Research and Economic Development, the Division of Information Technology has created a fund-tracking app to trace the path of grant spending.

As an R1 school, ����Թ� State has the highest “status for research” recognition that doctoral universities can receive. This distinction was partly given due to ����Թ� State’s funding for research.
